A Legacy of Healing...
For nearly 40 years, Odyssey House of Utah has been providing substance abuse and mental health services to help people heal and overcome the pain and suffering caused by drug addiction. Many people say, "Aren't you guys everywhere?" The answer to this question is "yes," and "no."

Odyssey House's first location was founded in New York and shortly after in Utah as the vision of Dr. Judianne Densen Gerber and a diligent, inspired charter board that had a passion for recovery and helping people obtain second chances at life.... and succeed. In the last 40 years, Odyssey Houses have opened up across the nation and in countries as far away as Australia and New Zealand due to the success and efficacy of our treatment model. So, yes, Odyssey Houses are everywhere...

In the 1980's, however, all of the Odyssey Houses incorporated themselves as individual companies and began answering to their own local boards. Therefore, our Odyssey House, in Salt Lake City, Utah is an individual group of drug treatment centers serving adolescents, adults, and parents with children in residential, outpatient, and in-home environments.

At Odyssey House, it is our belief that every person can learn to live free of self-destructive patterns and be responsible. Each client can feel loved, healthy, whole, and can be part of a community that cares.

Odyssey House is not just a treatment program but a new way of life. We provide solutions for families and the tools to weather the storms of addiction... and overcome. We are A Journey of Healing...

Mission Statement
At Odyssey House of Utah we create accountable, self-sufficient, contributing, healthy, and happy individuals and families by using the Therapeutic Community method to provide quality and effective substance abuse and mental health treatment, education, vocation, housing, and prevention services to individuals and families in need, especially those who are socially and economically disadvantaged.

Vision Statement
It is our vision, at Odyssey House, to emerge as a leader in behavioral healthcare by being a caring, science-based, client-driven, and mindful set of treatment programs, which is heralded in the community as a program of excellence in which even those with the most difficult problems are afforded a chance to heal, change, and alter their self-destructive lifestyles.

Values Statement
Through treatment services, Odyssey House teaches and instills integrity, mindfulness, and accountability into each of its clients. To do so, staff must role-model such behavior. Therefore, Odyssey House, as an employer of choice, must be virtuous in its business operations. Treating clients, employees, funding sources, collateral providers, and the community honorably is of the utmost importance.
