Odyssey House Adolescent Outpatient Programs

Adolescent Outpatient Treatment Programs

A Journey of Healing...
Our Adolescent Outpatient Treatment Program is located just east of downtown Salt Lake City and provides full-service standard and intensitve outpatient care to adolescent teenagers (13-17). We are a dual-diagnosis enhanced treatment program which enables us to do what we do best... help teenagers work on themselves as a whole and discover the underlying issues that form the root of the addiction so that our clients may emerge healthy, successful, and independent. We involve the family in the healing process and return youth to the good people they are.

The best part is that we offer aftercare to our clients for free for life. We truly want to give every client a chance to succeed and we do not give up on hope - ever.

Integrity, Responsibility, Accountability... A Recipe for Health
Our treatment approach is unique in that we employ a modified Therapeutic Community model that has been customized to the most important needs of adolescents and is based on the most up-to-date best practices in the field. The Therapeutic Community harnesses the best of both worlds: professional, clinical expertise and the ability of adolescents to relate to each other and support those who are going through the same journey they are. Many of our staff have graduated from Odyssey House themselves and can truly support the clients as they know exactly what their needs are and have succeeded themselves. Clients hold each other to healthy standards and hold each other accountable as friends should. They teach and encourage each other to live responsibly, with integrity, and accountable for their own actions.

Works With Your School Schedule...
Often, school performance is one of the first things to slip as a teenager experiments with drugs. Our Adolescent Outpatient drug treatment program is after school so that teenagers may attend both school and therapy without disruption. Our Adolescent Outpatient Program has developed a plethora of individualized groups and services that enhance the Therapeutic Community. Whether or not the teenager is in a standard or intensive outpatient program, clients are given the support of several group therapy sessions and activities that help them learn how to live the rest of their lives sober. Clients not only engage in therapy; they learn how to have fun without drugs and alcohol and how to be successful in school and in whatever life brings after school whether it be college or employment. We make sure that the clients succeed not only in our program but also in their school life. Below are some of the services that we offer and all of them are included in the program:

  • Case Management
  • Individual Therapy
  • Motivational Groups
  • Crisis Intervention
  • Family Therapy
  • High School Education and College Support
  • Life Skills Training
  • Sexual Trauma Recovery Services
  • Lifelong Aftercare Services

Length of the Program...
We like to say that an adolescent's length of outpatient services at Odyssey House will not be one week longer or one week shorter than it needs to be. Each client's services will differ as programs are individualized for each client's needs. We utilize ASAM Placement Criteria, an industry renowned best-practice, to match the correct level of care for each client and we review each client's progress continuously. Because we have a complete continuum of care ranging from intensive outpatient treatment to prevention education, we can move a client along seamlessly in their levels of care. If certain time constraints exist, please feel free to talk to our admissions department to see if we can come up with a viable solution.

We encourage a smooth transition back into the family's home so that a client may live a sober, successful life with the important family support that is so necessary for healing.

Hope Renewed...
Adolescents graduate whole, healthy people with the world's opportunities at their fingertips. After all, a life free of addiction has limitless potential. Our alumni group provides support for clients for the rest of their lives for free and we are impressed and touched by the generous gestures of many of our graduates. Whether it be a graduate donating to Odyssey House or stopping by to participate in an alumni activity, it is a common occurrence to see hope renewed in our clients by seeing them "give back." Sobriety is about teaching and helping others achieve it, and our alumni definitely does more than their share of touching lives.

Services for Adolescents

"I never thought that I would ever be able to call my brothers, sisters, and parents my best friends. Once I overcame my troubles, I became a new person - one that people liked to be around."
