Odyssey House's Parents and Children's Program serves mothers and fathers with dependent children under the age of 9 (including pregnant women) presenting with a diagnosable substance abuse problems. This program serves clients, who, along with their children, face severe problems in multiple life areas such as co-occurring disorders, educational and occupational problems, parenting issues, relationship problems, and criminal backgrounds. The mothers and fathers who are seeking substance abuse treatment often have unique treatment issues which include shame, stigma, trauma, and self-destructive behavior. The Father's and Children's program was developed nearly 5 years ago and, we are proud to say, is the only one of its kind west of the Mississippi River.
The program offers residential substance abuse treatment to mothers and fathers while concurrently providing services for their infants and young children. It is designed to utilize gender-specific treatment protocols to meet the complex needs of the target population, addressing barriers to entering treatment, completing treatment, and maintaining results post-treatment. The program employs a dual diagnosed enhanced, structured Therapeutic Community as the foundation of its programming design, within which a variety of treatment modalities are practiced.
Parents learn to raise their children healthily and with a strong sense of values that include responsibility, integrity, and accountability. Each day, our clients wake up to their loved one, knowing that they are becoming a better parent and that their child will have a fair chance at life.

"I am so grateful that I can be the mother that my daughter deserves. She and I love each other so much and we share an unbreakable bond that I thought I had ruined. Thanks to Odyssey House, I will never go back to being the person that I was. I am so excited to watch my little girl grow and experience true joy and happiness."
